What is Të Pathënat?
Të Pathënat (Albanian for “the unsaid”) is an anonymous archive of messages people never sent: words for a first love, a friend, a parent, someone who is gone, or themselves. Anyone can read the messages, and anyone can add one.
Do I need an account?
No. You don't need to sign up or give us your name or email address. Just open the Submit page and write.
How do I send a message?
Go to Submit, write the first name of the person the message is for, choose a colour and write your message. Once you send it, it is checked before it appears on the website.
Is my message anonymous?
Yes. Messages don't show who wrote them, and we don't ask for any personal details. To keep the person you're writing to anonymous too, use only their first name and leave out anything that could identify them.
Why isn't my message showing yet?
New messages are checked against our community rules before they're published. Depending on how many messages are waiting, this can take a while. Messages that break the rules aren't published.
What do the colours mean?
There is no fixed meaning. You pick the colour you associate with the person or the moment you are writing about: a favourite colour, a season, a mood. Read more in What colour is your person?
How do I find a message written for me?
Use the search on the homepage to look for a name, words from the text, or one or more colours. You can also browse the most liked messages.
How many messages can I send?
To keep the archive free of spam, there's a daily limit. If you reach it, you'll see a notice and can send more the next day.
Can I delete a message I sent?
Since there are no accounts, we can't automatically tell who wrote a message. Email us at socials.tepathenat@gmail.com with a link to the message and we'll look into it.
How do I report a message?
Every message and memory has a Report button. Choose a reason and send it. We review reports and remove content that breaks the community rules.
What is the Memories Map?
The Memories Map lets you pin a memory to the place where it happened. Choose whether it is a memory for you, for someone else or for everyone, add the date and write what happened. Use the filters to browse each category, or the dice to read a random memory.
Can my memory stay pinned on the map?
Yes. With a small donation through Buy Me a Coffee, you can ask for your memory to be pinned with a special marker and stay visible for longer.
Is Të Pathënat free?
Yes. Reading and sending messages is free. The website is supported by donations through Buy Me a Coffee and by ads.
Can I use the website in Albanian?
Yes. Use the language menu at the top of the page to switch between English and Albanian. Messages are shown in the language they were written in.
